Community Programs

Nurturing our children and young people to reach their full potential

The Community Programs team work within the Fitzroy Valley to facilitate parenting support. This improves health, wellbeing, cultural knowledge and educational outcomes for children and their families living in surrounding Fitzroy Valley communities.

We run regular on-country cultural experiences for children and parents to help children connect to country, to engage with and learn in their natural environment.

We embed strong cultural knowledge from our Elders through language, music, story-telling and art/craft activities.

Everything we do is focused on improving children’s development and wellbeing, enhancing the transmission of cultural knowledge and strengthening parents’ and carers’ capacity. This builds on parents’ strengths and provides safe environments that promote deep learning.

Our programs:

  • Supported playgroups
  • Mothers and babies group
  • Young womens’ empowerment group
  • Dads time
  • Toy making workshop
  • Women's bush dyeing workshop
