Community Outreach, Safety and Therapeutic Support

MWRC delivers a coordinated suite of outreach, therapeutic and in-home safety supports that enable women and families to access help in ways that are flexible, culturally safe and responsive to their circumstances.

These supports are a critical part of the Strengthening Families model, ensuring that women can engage with services beyond crisis, and continue along pathways of safety, healing and recovery.

Outreach to Community

MWRC provides regular outreach across Fitzroy Crossing and surrounding remote communities.

This includes:

  • Mobile, community-based engagement and support

  • In-place safety planning and risk assessment

  • Linking women and families to legal, shelter and therapeutic services

  • Creating safe, accessible entry points for women who may not engage with centre-based services

Outreach ensures that distance, transport and service barriers do not prevent women from accessing support.

Therapeutic Support

Therapeutic supports are delivered as part of the Third Action Plan (3AP) and are embedded across the service system.

This includes:

  • Counselling, social work and victim support

  • Trauma-informed therapeutic care

  • Risk assessment and safety planning

  • Ongoing emotional and psychological support

These services support women not only in crisis, but throughout their healing and recovery journey.

Safety at Home (Keeping Women Safe in Their Homes – KWSITH)

For women who choose to remain in their homes, MWRC provides practical and ongoing support to increase safety.

This includes:

  • Safety planning in place

  • Home safety upgrades and security responses

  • Ongoing case management

  • Integration with legal and therapeutic supports

This approach supports women to maintain connection to family, community and Country while increasing safety.

Leaving Violence Program (LVP)

The Leaving Violence Program provides targeted financial and practical support to assist women to safely leave violent situations.

This includes:

  • Brokerage and financial assistance packages

  • Wraparound case management

  • Referrals to housing, legal and support services

  • Flexible, tailored support based on individual needs

LVP enables women to take practical steps toward safety, independence and stability.

Supporting the Whole Journey

Together, these programs ensure that women can access support at any point, whether in crisis, remaining safely at home, or planning to leave violence.

They form a connected system that links outreach, safety, legal support and therapeutic care, so that women and families experience one coordinated service, not separate programs.
