Celebrating National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day

Children's Day is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, recognising their strength, their voices and the important role that family, culture and community play in helping every child thrive.

This year's theme, Living Our Truth, honours the importance of truth-telling, sharing knowledge across generations and ensuring children grow up knowing who they are, where they come from and the strength of their cultures.

Here in the Fitzroy Valley, children are surrounded by rich cultural knowledge, strong families and deep connections to Country. Every day, Elders, parents, carers, educators and community members play an important role in passing on language, stories and traditions that help shape confident, resilient young people.

At Marninwarntikura, supporting children and families is at the heart of everything we do. Through our Baya Gawiy early years programs, Marulu social and emotional wellbeing initiatives, and Strengthening Families services, we work alongside communities to ensure children have every opportunity to grow up safe, healthy and connected.
