Fitzroy Fashion Show: After the Flood

It’s not every day that the old crossing bridge gets transformed into a runway.

On a stunning evening in November 2025, the old Fitzroy Crossing bridge, once submerged and damaged during the devastating 2023 floods, was transformed into a catwalk of resilience, pride, and creativity.

The Fitzroy Fashion Show – After the Flood, presented with Marra Worra Worra and KAFTA, brought the community together in spectacular style. Local women and young people modelled bold, beautiful garments with confidence and joy, reclaiming a space that had once symbolised loss and disruption.

From floodlight-lit struts across the bridge to cheers echoing through the Valley, the event was about far more than fashion. It was a statement: that we are still here, still strong, and still rising.

Marninwarntikura was proud to stand with our partners in celebrating the creativity and cultural pride of Fitzroy Valley women. As one attendee put it, “It felt like healing in motion - a reminder that we are allowed to feel good, look good, and be proud of where we come from.”

We thank everyone who helped make the night so powerful, the organisers, artists, stylists, volunteers, and every young woman who took to the runway with courage and flair.
