Buga Yanu Junba Named Finalist in the 2026 APRA AMCOS Art Music Awards
The nomination recognises the collaborative work between Marninwarntikura Women's Resource Centre and Tura to create music that celebrates language, culture and early childhood learning.
Buga Yanu Junba was developed to support young children and families through songs that reflect the stories, languages and cultural knowledge of the Fitzroy Valley. The project demonstrates the power of music as a way of strengthening identity, connection and belonging during the early years of life.
The recognition is a testament to the many people who contributed to the project, including Elders, musicians, educators, families and Community members who generously shared their knowledge, voices and creativity.
At Marninwarntikura, we believe culture is one of the greatest strengths we can offer our children. Initiatives such as Buga Yanu Junba help create joyful learning experiences while supporting language, cultural identity and strong foundations for lifelong learning.
