25 November 2025 – A Time to Unveil, Unite and Commit

Today marks a pivotal moment - the international spotlight falls on the elimination of violence against women and girls, as the world begins the campaign of 16 Days of activism. Here in WA, the initiative is known as 16 Days in WA: from today until 10 December, organisations, communities and individuals are invited to play their part in ending violence against women.

For the Fitzroy Valley - for MWRC - today is more than symbolic. It is a reminder of our collective responsibility to stand alongside women and children who have survived or are currently living with violence, and to walk with them toward healing, safety and self‑determination.

We recognise that violence against women is rooted in profound structural inequities, intergenerational trauma, and systemic injustice. It also happens disproportionately in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. In this context, our work is about supporting cultural strengths, restoring power, and amplifying voices that too often have been silenced.

Across the next 16 days we will share insights, hold space for reflection, highlight actions and commit, anew, to the vision of a world where every woman, every girl, every person is safe, valued and free from violence. We invite you, Staff, partners, community members, to join us, to speak up, to take action, and to walk the path of prevention together.

Because no one organisation, no one person can do it alone. It’s time we do it together.
