Us Without Abuse campaign recognised with national media award

The campaign was developed through a partnership between Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre, Kimberley Community Legal Services, Wunan Media and Longreach Media. It was designed to support conversations about family violence, respect and accountability, while encouraging people to seek help and support when needed.

The campaign has reached communities across the Kimberley through television, radio, digital platforms and community engagement activities. It centres the voices and leadership of Aboriginal communities and promotes a message of collective responsibility in creating safer families.

Marninwarntikura Executive Officer, David Couri, said the recognition reflects the strength of collaboration across organisations working in the region.

“This campaign represents what is possible when organisations work together with community leadership at the centre. It is about strengthening awareness, encouraging support seeking, and reinforcing that violence is not acceptable in our communities.”

The award recognises the creative and strategic work undertaken by Longreach Media to help ensure the campaign reached audiences across the Kimberley.

While the recognition is appreciated, the organisations involved emphasise that the work continues.

The Us Without Abuse campaign will continue to be rolled out across the region as part of ongoing efforts to support safer families and communities.
