Marninwarntikura Welcomes Vivienne Gordon as Board Chairperson
Vivienne is a proud Gooniyandi and Walmajarri woman who lives in Bayulu and is a proud mother of six children. She brings a deep connection to her community, her people and Country, along with a strong commitment to the future of the Fitzroy Valley.
Many people across the region will know Vivienne through her longstanding involvement in community life and her passion for supporting families, strengthening culture and building community leadership.
Vivienne is passionate about creating a safe future for the Fitzroy Valley and supporting healing for current and future generations.
As Vivienne says:
"The time is now to bring about healing for our mob and work towards ending intergenerational trauma."
Her appointment comes at an important time for Marninwarntikura as the organisation continues to support women, children and families through community-led responses, healing initiatives, family safety programs, early years services and social and emotional wellbeing programs.
The Board also wishes to acknowledge the contribution of former Chairperson Robin Wilson and sincerely thank Robin for her stewardship and leadership during her time in the role. Robin has made a significant contribution to Marninwarntikura's work and growth, and the organisation is grateful for her dedicated service to women, children and families across the Fitzroy Valley.
Vivienne's appointment reflects the strength and continuity of Aboriginal women's leadership that has guided Marninwarntikura since its establishment. Working alongside fellow Board members and senior women from across the Fitzroy Valley, she will help guide the organisation as it continues to build strong communities, support cultural authority and work towards a safer and more hopeful future.
We congratulate Vivienne on her appointment and look forward to working together in this next chapter of Marninwarntikura's journey.
