Women’s Nurture Day: Celebrating and Strengthening Women in the Fitzroy Valley

On Tuesday 29 July 2025, Marninwarntikura Women’s Resource Centre proudly hosted our first Women’s Nurture Day, welcoming more than 100 women from across the Fitzroy Valley.
This special gathering continues the momentum of our Us Without Abuse campaign, launched in Fitzroy Crossing on 5 May 2025. The Kimberley-wide campaign empowers individuals to stand against abuse, raise awareness, and drive both behavioural and structural change in our communities.
Women’s Nurture Day was designed to celebrate the strength and spirit of Fitzroy Valley women while creating space for rest, reconnection, and self-care. Guests enjoyed pamper packs, massages, hair braiding, eyebrow waxing, face masks, art therapy, jewellery making, and a variety of arts and crafts-based healing activities — all alongside shared food and laughter.
At Marninwarntikura, we believe that when women are supported to feel good in their bodies, connect with each other, and take time to heal, they are better equipped to lead, care for their families, and contribute to safe, strong communities. Women’s Nurture Day is a celebration of that right to wellbeing, healing, and mutual care.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, and contributed to making the day such a success. Seeing so many women and young people of all ages come together was a powerful reminder of the strength within our community.
If you attended, we’d love to hear your thoughts so we can make next year’s event even better. Please take a few minutes to complete our short feedback survey: Click here to complete the survey.
